Welcome to Hawtins Stud

Hanoverian yearlings
Groom vacanciesHawtins Stud is set in just over 100 acres in Gloucestershire in the heart of the famous Three Counties country. This provides a peaceful, stress-free environment for our horses to grow up in. At the same time, our location has great links for quick and easy access.

Hawtins stud was established with the aim of producing the highest quality modern horses for the British dressage market. The Hanoverian breed was selected as the foundation for the stud for the following reasons:

  • The very high standards of selection and performance testing set by the Hanoverian society which are applied to all potential stallions before they are licensed and all potential mare candidates for the State premium award
  • The expertise of the German breeders based on a long history of conscious, recorded breeding and the on-going refinement of blood lines within the Hanoverian breed which provides a sound basis for breeding programmes
  • As a result of the above, the Hanoverian breed has been foremost in dressage and show jumping. Hanoverians dominate the WFSHB rankings and have been, and still are, a cornerstone of many other German breeding areas and other European stud books.

Hawtins stud is part of the new and exciting trend in Britain of breeders and producers offering the best of German bloodlines and experience, combined with high standards of care and management and the professional and appropriate production of young horses.

Our aim is to provide the British market with exciting horses that also have wonderful temperaments.
