Due to the time required to increase the number of horses bred by the stud to reach the age for sale, we have in the past couple of years bought in some quality youngsters from Germany to produce and sell.

Our aim with these is to find good moving horses with excellent temperaments. We then work on improving and establishing their way of going and developing their skills. We also get these horses used to being turned out and going hacking so they can enjoy life more. They are also taken to a few competitions to give them experience of going out and competing. We have been very pleased with the results they have achieved, for example, qualification for the Shearwater championships and qualification for British Dressage Regional championships. We avoid putting any BD points on the horses to give our customers the chance to maximise their time in the early levels.

We love the fact that our customers stay in touch with us and keep us informed of their horse’s progress on a regular basis. Some of these horses and their achievements can be seen on our Successful Horses page.

2010 saw a small group of our own four year olds bred at the stud entering the market place. We also retained a couple of mares for the breeding programme and to train and compete ourselves.

In 2011 we are showcasing our largest group yet of four year olds and have some very exciting prospects. Several of our horses have already gained qualification for the BD Young Horse Championships and the BD Potential International Dressage Horse championships. These are increasingly popular and hotly contested competitions so qualification for the championships is quite an achievement. Those that been out and have not yet qualified have all finished well inside the top ten with very good scores. Our horses are bred for a long-term career in dressage and the emphasis is not on their production for young horse classes.  These classes are a good opportunity for them to gain some valuable experience. With such as wide range of four year olds they will inevitably mature at different rates.
