Rachel Silk. Fuerst Ferdinand – November 09
Having spent 18 months and clocking up hundreds of miles I was really pleased to see a young horse advertised in Horse and Hound that sounded like it ticked all the boxes and was only 40 minutes way. Unfortunately when I rang up the horse had sold (very quickly!). I explained to Judith what I was looking for, a quality young horse with really good movement and trainability etc that both my teenage daughter and her trainer (Lucy Farrer) could complete and most importantly a really good temperament. Judith told us about Ferdi and as we were so close suggested we went to try him. We were delighted with what we saw and the horse was exactly as Judith had described him. He had obviously been very correctly started and produced. Georgia rode him well and liked how he felt and wanted to go back for a second try with Lucy. Judith was more than happy for us to go back and positively encouraged it. The facilities are superb and Judith and her staff are friendly and very professional.
We have had Ferdi for 4 months now and I am delighted to say that we have not been disappointed. Lucy and Georgia have now just started to lightly compete with him and both have had good results. We are all really looking forward to the future.
I have no hesitation in recommending Judith and Hawtins Stud to anyone wanting to purchase a quality young horse and wish them all the success they deserve.
Anne Mary Sutton. Owner of Lyon. Winner of 2009 Addington regional championships and second at the 2009 Nationals.
"Lyon is an absolute delight to own and is a true example of a mothers dream. He has the trainability, manners and character that Hawtins Stud should be very proud of."
Gilly Timmis. Owner of Reuben. Based at Hawtins Stud since a yearling in 2007 for livery and subsequent backing and training.
"Hawtins Stud is an exceptional and unique place. From the moment you arrive you are aware of the peace and tranquillity of Stanbrook Farm. Everything has been organised for the horses, from the beautifully fenced paddocks, the immaculate stables and indoor school to the oval horse walker and the outdoor arena. There is a surfaced turnout pen and barns with outdoor areas attached where the young horses socialise in groups, by age, in the winter.
Judith Davis and her partner Hans have used all their previous considerable business expertise and applied it to their passion for horses. As a result the young horses Hawtins Stud produces are outstanding. Judith selects with immense care, from her extensive knowledge, the very best stallions for her State Premium Mares and this produces award winning off spring. They are then handled and ridden by Hawtins Stud's very experienced staff, in an established routine, in safe and fabulous surroundings. As a result all the young horses that Hawtins Stud produce are not only beautifully bred they are well handled, well mannered, confident and already beautifully schooled. All the hard work has been done for you. It is easy to imagine that the horses Hawtins Stud produces would be very expensive to purchase but they are very competitively priced and I would urge anyone to place Hawtins Stud at the very top of their list when searching for a new horse."
Louise Baker. Owner of Romeo.
"The experience of buying off Judith at Hawtins stud was great; I described what I was looking for and got it! I bought Romeo as a 5 year old in 2007 and have been delighted with him. He has a lovely character, is wonderfully forward thinking without silliness and has gone from strength to strength in his work. My trainer has been working with us both on the “sideways stuff” and we have great hopes for his future, if I can live up to him."
Marian Green. Owner/rider of Hawtins Lalique.
"Lalique (Lily) is a true example of the versatility of the Hanoverian breed. Her trainability reflects, and is a credit to, the way in which young horses are produced at Hawtins Stud."
