There were Hawtins horses competing across the levels from the young horse classes through to Grand Prix. Seven horses still based at the stud gained eight golden tickets between them and five of the horses made the journey to Somerford Park.
In the PSG, there were four Hawtins horses with Charlotte Dujardin and Hawtins San Floriana finishing fifth in only her second time out at the level. Sara-Jane Lanning and Hawtins Lirica were the only combination qualified who opted to take part in the PSG freestyle and they went on to finish fifth! This was their first National championships at this level. Hawtins Lirica had been the champion four and then five year old in the young horse classes (she did not take part in these classes as a six year old), while Hawtins San Floriana had claimed the young horse championship title at four, five and six years of age! It is very rewarding to see these horses going on to great success at the higher levels.
In the Inter I, Lucinda and Hawtins Soave and Davy Harvey and Hawtins Rossana both put in great performances to finish in the top ten and qualify for the Inter I freestyle. Unfortunately, Rossana had a fright at the start of her music before entering the arena, but Lucinda and Soave produced a lovely harmonious test to finish 7th.
